We’re thrilled to reveal the Harlequin Creator Space Tiny Book Contest’s winning entry: The Perks of Getting Coffee by Maggie Downs!
About The Perks of Getting Coffee
The Perks of Getting Coffee piqued our judges’ interest with its visual descriptions and a fun scene that created a dramatic scenario in just a few sentences. Maggie spoke to the Harlequin Creator Space team about her experience in writing her tiny book entry:
“This challenge interested me because I typically write nonfiction, and that work is often melancholy or sad. But I love happy endings — that’s why I read romance! — and for once I wanted to try writing something that would be fun and flirty.
It was truly a challenge to introduce two characters and create some drama in so few words, but I had a blast working on it. This experience makes me want to try writing another romance someday; hopefully something longer.”
The Perks of Getting Coffee is illustrated by Toronto artist Buffy Shields. You can find Buffy on Instagram at @BuffyShields.
Congratulations, Maggie, on winning the Harlequin Creator Space Tiny Book Challenge!
